Train cemetery, Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia As I gave you yesterday some number, Salar de Uyuni is a huge area. I guess people want to go there to see “salt” (it was in my mind ), tomorrow I’ll talk about it. But there are actually many more attractions on Salar de Uyuni. One of them is a train cemetery. It’s just 3 km from Uyuni town and it’s worth to make a stop there. The railway was built at the end of 19th century to improve transportation system in Bolivia. But it was mostly used to transport minerals. Moreover, it was often sabotaged by the local Aymara indigenous Indians who saw it as an intrusion into their lives.
